Bascom Hill Consulting, LLC, led by founder Jeff Gau, M.S., provides expert research and analytics in behavioral, health, education, and social services. With over 25 years of experience in advanced methodology and data analysis, Bascom Hill Consulting helps clients design robust studies, avoid pitfalls, and maximize their data's impact.
For most of my career, I’ve partnered with research institutes, universities, and non-profit organizations to design studies, analyze data, and communicate results.​ ​More recently, I’ve begun collaborating with healthcare professionals and Magnet-designated hospitals. I find this work especially rewarding because clinicians and staff are deeply passionate about what they do. Collaboratively, the improvements we make together have an immediate, meaningful impact on both teams and patients. This work has shown me where I can make the greatest impact: supporting health care teams with practical, data-driven solutions that strengthen care delivery and staff well-being.

Improving Healthcare Workers' Subjective Happiness
Planned and conducted data analysis for a randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of a positive psychological intervention on subjective happiness among healthcare workers; findings were published in JONA, marking the research group's first peer-reviewed publication in the journal. Evidence-Based Practice and Research Competency Among Ambulatory Care Nurses
Planned and conducted data analysis for a national survey of 2,790 ambulatory care nurses examining self-perceived evidence-based practice and research competencies; findings were published in Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing. https://doi.org/10.1111/wvn.70116

Virtual Nursing
Co-designed an observational study and assisted in IRB protocol development to examine virtual nursing's impact on bedside nurses' perceived burden; following IRB approval and successful data collection, data analysis and manuscript preparation are currently in progress.

Healing Sexual Dysfunction after Prostate Cancer
Co-designed a quasi-experimental study examining erectile function recovery before and after prostate cancer treatment; contributions included developing the statistical analysis plan for IRB submission and selecting measurement instruments to evaluate intervention acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility. The study received IRB approval and is currently enrolling.
